Where to stay while golfing in Las Vegas
A 40-minute ride from the Las Vegas Strip, SilverStone Golf Club opened for play June 2001. This 27-hole, 7,159-yard Robert Cupp designed track is located in Mountain Spa, an upscale community in northwest Las Vegas. SilverStone is open to the public, though it is touted as a high-end and upscale semiprivate club. The club’s three links-styled nines are playable in a variety of 18-hole combinations, and four sets of tees provide a challenge for all handicap levels. The rolling fairways are generally open, and water comes into play on seven holes. Needless to say, wind plays a big factor in shotmaking, and there are plenty of hazards lurking to eat up errant shots. The greens are small, undulated and roll fast and true. For additional information call (702) 562-3770. If you are looking to book a Vegas tee time, and Silverstone is not offering anything, a fine Northwest Las Vegas substitute is either of the 2 Summerlin courses, Highland Falls Summerlin, or Palm Valley Summerlin.
